The Goldbug Case

Silas and the goldbug

This E-machine minitower has only been mildly modified. I painted it gold (4 coats of paint, followed by three coats of clear varnish), replaced the power supply with a half-depth ATX power supply, lined the case with dynamat to cut down on vibrations, and replaced the fan on the power supply with one of the really quiet Papst fans. The only problem with this case is that air circulation is not the greatest; when I put an AMD K7/1333 into it, the internal temperature shot up towards 90C and was only stopped by removing the cover and temporarily aiming an external fan at the CPU. But a processor that doesn’t generate as much heat as a blowtorch, like an Intel Core Duo, should be really happy inside this case.
