TdM BLWRS/BLW251/BRS11/VO-251 #446 in orange & green

Number 446, a BLWRS/BLW251/BRS11/VO-251 (depending on who was talking about it) rebuild, started out as TdM #1002 – one of the two VO-660s that the Plaster Hills & Western purchased in 1955 on their first attempt to dieselize, and which was traded back to the TdM – after the main generator failed – for recently retired consolidation #303. It came back as scrap, so never got a PV&T road # and sat on the salvage parts track at St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu for 6 years until it was picked out to see if it could be used as a base for a complete rebuild.

The AAR A trucks were replaced with GSC lightweight type B trucks, the now too big fuel tank was replaced by a smaller one, the prime mover was replaced with a 251-V8, and the hood was replaced with a shop-fabricated one.

It spent many years operating on the TdM & LT&L’s dieselized lines in Québec, but has now moved to the OSW and is being used on the dieselized lines northwest of Guelph.
