The scrapping of the old electric box locomotives of Companhia Paulista was first proposed in the early seventies, but the Oil Crisis fortunately stopped this madness. However, as oil prices decreased, the Evil Empire striked back. I saw several of such locomotives being scrapped in the late eighties at the Moóca station, in São Paulo SP, near the São Carlos do Pinhal viaduct... This photo shows a unique Metropolitan Vickers electric box locomotive of C.P. in the death queue at Jundiaí, SP. Now oil prices are climbing, but we are scrapping our remaining electric rail equipment. The madness continues... This photo was shot by Kelso Médici, from São Paulo SP, in April 1990, and kindly sent to the E.F. Brasil pages.
