In 1996, all suburban lines of Rio de Janeiro, that belonged to Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbanos - C.B.T.U. (Brazilian Company of Urban Trains), where transfered to a Rio de Janeiro state-owned company: Flumitrens (Fluminenses Trains). This new company was privatized in 1999, being renamed as SuperVia.
