Estrada de Ferro do Corcovado

E.F. do Corcovado is a small touristic electric rack railway in the city of Rio de Janeiro which reaches the Cristo Redentor statue located in the top of the Corcovado hill, at a height of about 710 metres. It was inaugurated in 1884, using steam rack locomotives adopting the Riggenbach system. E.F. do Corcovado was the first railway to be electrified in Brazil; this system was inaugurated in the end of 1910 and completely revamped in 1980.
